China Doll Tuesdays
Tricia Mastricolo

we had a 360 degree picnic
in a clearing in the woods
we had baskets weaved of bone
and plates of flesh
they served me on a platter with toothpicks
gently placed for need
it's china doll tuesday and i am in pieces
my heart becomes a hummingbird as i down the shot
i can feel every crack in me ripping
seams splitting
and the fragments hold impossibly together
the line is drawn up
i fall on both sides of it
negative space filling with doubt
blending its lack of color
lack of words
it's china doll tuesday and i am standing
mouth open to pour out symbols of screams
to pull out lives and breath of bone
visions of centuries of sand fly from my eyes
swallow themselves in the clearing of wood and sky
360 degrees of life
and love
it's china doll tuesday and i am
. . . i am
